Lessons

Joana has been teaching private vocal lessons since 2012, and now teaches music from her home in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Her lessons are tailored to the abilities and needs of each student, no matter their age or skill level. Joana specializes in teaching music to young children, including singing, and has been with some of her students since they were just two years old. In addition to pursuing musical excellence in all her lessons with young children, she prioritizes safeguarding best practice and holds an advanced DBS Check certificate.

Exams & Auditions

Joana can provide instruction in singing up to grade 8 and beyond on the ABRSM and Trinity College curricula, and music theory up to grade 5. She also provides lessons for students preparing for auditions for music schools or conservatoires, or for musical theatre and opera productions. She also welcomes students who may simply want to improve their musical abilities for fun, personal growth, or to gain confidence in their technique.

For more information about lessons, or to book a consultation or discuss the needs of you or your child, please get in touch.

Online Teaching

Since March 2020, Joana has developed a professional remote teaching studio, enabling her to deliver high-quality music lessons online. Using multiple cameras and a high-quality microphone, Joana can recreate the intimacy and attention to detail of an in-person lesson.

What students say about me…

Following a 30 year break in music lessons (late teens to early fifties), Joana has been my singing teacher for over 5 years. Always patient, personable, supportive and understanding, her teaching is based on careful attention to musicianship and healthy vocal techniques, but never forgetting that above all music is fun.

Joana has been teaching my daughter piano for a year, and generally encouraging her musically. She is warm, friendly, patient and positive and explains things clearly. My daughter says she makes lessons fun, and really looks forward to seeing her.
